The Resort reminds you that every winter sport participant shares responsibility for his or her safety and for that of others using the ski area facilities. Always show courtesy to others and be aware that there are elements of risk in skiing and snowboarding that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Know your ability level and stay within it. Become familiar with and observe "Your Responsibility Code" and share with other skiers the responsibility for a great skiing experience.
FAQ
What information do I need when making a reservation?
When making a reservation we will ask for Parent/Guardian information first: name, date of birth, address, email, and the credit card you will be paying with. For the child, we will be asking for: name, date of birth, any food allergies, medications, or special needs, emergency contacts and phone numbers, shoe size, height, weight and skiing or snowboarding ability level. Also, if booking online you will be able to pre-sign your child's release of liability. All of this information will allow us to check your child in quickly on the morning of your reservation. We will ask you to verify that nothing has changed.
Will I have to wait in line if I make reservations?
Making a reservation ensures that your child has a spot in the Ski and Ride School. Since you have already given us your child's information, you will just need to sign the release form (if booked over the phone) and verify that nothing has changed since you made the reservation. There will be a line to wait in, but your child is guaranteed a spot.
Where and when do I need to check my child in?
You will need to check in your child at the Children's Ski and Ride School sales offices. All of our locations have a waiting line for those who have made reservations. You should check in by 9am at any of our locations. Have your child dressed and ready to go, as we will take them to get ready for their class as soon as you have checked them in.
Can I go with my child to get fitted for equipment?
For the safety of all the children, we do not permit parents in the back of the Ski and Ride School centers. You will be able to view your children at the back doors of our locations as they make their way out to start their lessons. The registration agent can direct you to the exact spot when you check in.
Do I need to provide lunch for my child?
No, lunch is provided as part of the package. Lunch is generally between 11:30am and 1pm, depending on the day and the number of children in the program. We always have a vegetarian option with our lunches.
What do I do if my child has special dietary needs?
All of our lunches include a vegetarian option, or we have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. If your child requires more than this, you may bring their lunch. Please put the lunch in a lunch box or bag with the child's name clearly displayed. If there are any other needs besides these, please ask to speak to a supervisor.
Can I ski or snowboard with my child or take them out early?
If you would like to ski or snowboard with your child in the afternoon or take them out of class early, you will need to check them out of the class for the rest of the day. Your child can use the lift ticket and equipment for the rest of the day. Please speak to the instructor in the morning as they are bringing out your child and set up a meeting place and time. Our instructors do not carry radios with them and we will not be able to locate them to bring back a child.
Where do I pick up my child at the end of the day?
Lessons end at 3:45 pm; pick up is generally at the back of the Children’s Ski & Ride School Sales Office for both the California Kid’s Ski & Ride School and the Boulder Kid’s Ski & Ride School. Pick up for the Gondola Kid’s Ski & Ride School is located by the loading area for the Gondola. Please be on time for pick-up, a few minutes can seem like a long time for a child. Remember to have your security code to pick up your child at the end of the day. The reservation agent will inform you of the code when you check in.
If I drop off my child early, will they get more time to ski or snowboard?
Your child will start skiing or snowboarding as soon as we have a group formed. We group children based on their age and ability level. We will wait until there are about 4-6 students before we send them outside. We try and have all students out on the snow by 10am; however, this may take longer for late arrivals or during Holiday/Peak times.
Will you have Ski and Snowboard lessons if it is snowing?
Yes! We will be teaching lessons every day that the mountain is open. If the entire mountain is closed, the Ski and Ride Schools will be closed as well. You can check the conditions via our Mountain Conditions page or by calling 1-800-HEAVENLY.
Where do I drop off my child if the Gondola is on wind hold and my reservation is booked there?
If you book your child into the Ski and Ride School at the Gondola and the Gondola is on wind hold or threatens to close due to wind, we will still check in your child like any normal day, then place them on a special "Kids Ski School Only" bus with instructors and supervisors and shuttle them to the California Children's Center. We will take the same children back to the Gondola at the end of the lesson, where you will pick them up. The drop off and pickup times are the same as normal.
