Ski School Jobs

It is the goal of the Heavenly Ski and Snowboard school to be one of the premier development centers in the country. Our Instructors must demonstrate a professional appearance, positive work attitude, excellent communication skills and basic levels of the skiing/riding model. In addition, we believe in treating all Heavenly guests and employees with the utmost respect at all times. Clinics are held in a winter environment; therefore, our staff must be prepared and enjoy working outdoors in all conditions.

We are currently accepting applications for the 2009-2010 winter season (see the application directions below). Once we receive your employment application, we will contact you about an interview. If you are hired you will be required to attend New Hire Orientation on November 20 or December 17 and a Basic Training clinic offered either November 23-27 or December 19-23.

The nature of our work is seasonal. It requires that you are available to work into mid to late April. Closing day for the upcoming season is scheduled for April 18, 2010.

We have full time and part time positions available. However, work is not guaranteed. Expect to be sent home on occasions when it is slow and at busier times you may be asked to work your days off. New Instructors may need to get a second job to supplement your income if you are coming with a small cash reserve.

The "priority list" is a Heavenly Ski and Ride School management tool used to equitably assign lessons or other coaching assignments based on an instructor's work performance, certification or other relevant qualifications. Rankings are changed every two weeks and are used daily to assign work.

Ski /Snowboard Instructor wages are dependent on PSIA Certification status and experience or ISIA equivalent. Inexperienced Instructors start at $8.04 base pay. Most new-hire Instructors will be hired into one of our Children's Centers. We pay $2 per half day lesson and $4 per full day lesson in head count pay and $2 for a return student.

Heavenly offers extensive training opportunities. The training program is provided to help staff members continue to expand their teaching ability and enjoy their job. There are a variety of training opportunities available to Instructors throughout the season. The training program was developed to create a means for pros to learn more about their profession and attain personal and professional growth. This program is a benefit of employment in our department and is done during an employee's free time, off the clock and not covered by worker's compensation insurance.
