The Gondola will be open for Memorial Day Weekend,
Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26
10:00am-4:00pm.

The Gondola re-opens for Summer operation Friday, June 13 and will continue to operate seven days a week through Labor Day weekend.


D-Team (Ages 7-12)

The Ski Schools of Heavenly will again be offering our D-Team program to provide a cost effective snow sports adventure for local children. The Saturday-Sunday program is designed for children ages 7 through 12. D-Team is offered for both skiers and snowboarders. The minimum skiing/riding ability is level 3 (wedge turn or heelside slide on green terrain). Also available is Meteors, a Saturday-only D-Team program. For children ages 4 1/2 through 6, we offer our Comets program.

D-Team, Meteors, and Comets Registration

Registrations and sign-ups will continue to be handled by the season pass office at the Gondola or the California Main Lodge. Both season pass offices are open 9 AM to 4 PM seven days a week.
 
When you purchase your child's season pass and sign up for D-Team, Meteors, or Comets, please make sure you complete a registration sheet and return the completed sheet to the cashier. The information on the registration sheet allows us to place your child in the correct group. Additionally, when Ski School Administration receives your registration sheet we will send you more information regarding participation in the program.

D-Team Dates & Scheduling

The program starts on Saturday, January 5, 2008, and ends on Sunday, March 9, 2008. If the resort makes a decision to cancel any seasonal program due to inclement weather or road conditions, make up days will be provided. Below are the specific dates of D-Team:

Active weekend dates:

  • January 12, 13, 21 (MLK Monday), 26, 27, 2008
  • February 2, 9, 10, 23, 2008
  • March 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 29, 30, 2008

2007/08 D-Team Cost: $929 (Early Registration by 11/30/07) or $989 (12/1/07 - 12/15/07)

Program includes a full season pass (restriction dates apply) and 17-six hour days of coaching. D-Team will be offered out of the California Lodge Children's Center.

D-Team Coaches

The role of "D-Team Coach" is very important. D-Team coaches are hand-selected from our current staff. Coaches are chosen based on their skiing/riding backgrounds and their passion and experience in working with children.

Character Building

Building children's self-esteem and confidence through sports is one of our fundamental goals. In addition, we teach and encourage proper slope etiquette and mountain safety. Our aim is to foster good behavior while enjoying and nurturing a passion for winter sports. We ask you to help us in this mission by supporting the program rules and boundaries.

Racing

Our plan is to introduce the kids to gate training, with three training sessions held throughout the season. Of course, as is tradition, we will hold an annual D-Team "End of the Season" ski/snowboard race for the children. In the spirit of camaraderie, winners are deliberately not announced and every child will receive a race memento.

Meteors (ages 7-12)

Comets Team (Ages 4 1/2 - 6)

This afternoon program is for frequent visitors with little ones or local youngsters. The program is designed to be used consecutively and to take the younger kid's who need the basic fundamentals of skiing and get them ready for the next step - Development Team!

This 8-day program will be offered afternoons from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. All levels of skiers are welcome! However, snowboarding is not offered in Comets. The Comets Program is offered out of the California Lodge Children's Center. Clinic times are shorter than those of D-Team to deal with the limited attention spans and fatigue levels of the younger children. The program begins on Sunday, January 6, 2008 and ends Sunday, March 2, 2008.

Comets Active Dates

  • January 13, 20 (MLK Sunday), 27, 2008
  • February 10, 2008
  • March 2, 9, 16, & 30 (Full Day start @ 9am on March 30 only), 2008

2007/08 Comets Cost: $559 (Early Registration by 11/30/07) or $609 (12/1/07 - 1/6/08)

Program includes a season pass (restriction dates apply), 7-three-hour sessions plus 1-six hour session of coaching.

Comets Coaches

The role of "Comets Coach" is very important. Comets coaches are hand selected from our current staff. They are chosen based on their skiing background and their passion and experience working with younger children.
