During the winter months, the Tahoe basin and surrounding area become a veritable outdoor playground where visitors can relax on a scenic, horse-drawn sleigh ride or thrill to a ridgetop snowmobile adventure. The choice is yours, and the following will give you an idea of just how FUN your Heavenly vacation will be!

Back Country Skiing

Heavenly: Winter Activities What this experience lacks in skier amenities, it makes up for in the peaceful oneness that is achieved with the spectacular surroundings. Please be sure to contact the U.S. Forest Service at (530) 573-2600 for maps, trail guides, safety guidelines, and to check weather and snow conditions, before heading out. Here are a few areas in the Tahoe basin where trails can be accessed:

Echo Lake

 Parking/trail access located off U.S. Highway 50, on the road to Echo Lake, one mile east of Echo Summit.

Echo Summit

Parking/trail access located 8 miles west of the junction of U.S. Highways 50 and 89, on the south side of Highway 50.

Taylor Creek

Parking/trail access located on the west side of Highway 89, about 3 miles north of the intersection of U.S. Highways 50 and 89.

Fishing season doesn't end when winter comes to the Lake. Lake Tahoe, as well as the region's smaller lakes and rivers offer year-round angling.

Hot Springs

Relax those tired ski muscles in the soothing waters of natural hot springs! Amenities differ at each establishment, so be sure to pick the one which best suits your tastes!

Grover Hot Springs

Hawkins and Markleeville Peaks overlook this rustic park with mineral spring fed pools.

Lake Cruises

Sleigh Rides

Sleigh Rides What better way to accent your Heavenly vacation than to tour Tahoe's wondrous winter scenery in a horse drawn sleigh?

Borges Sleigh Rides

The Borges family's famous Belgian Blondes and Baskir Curleys from Russia are hitched to their sleighs and ready to take you for a one-hour tour over the meadow and through the woods, past Friday's Station (an old Pony Express way station), to one of the most spectacular views of Lake Tahoe!
