Christmas at Tahoe
Christmas in 2009 falls on a Thursday, which makes for a perfect excuse to take a 4+ day weekend holiday. South Lake Tahoe and the Casinos of Stateline, NV are decked out in the Christmas spirit. You can pick up last minute gifts for your loved ones from one of the 40 shops and eateries at the village at Heavenly.
Early in the month of December, on Sunday the 7th, the Lake Tahoe Visitor's Authority has a special annual holiday community celebration with Hot Coco, treats, and free sleigh rides. This is a great way to spend an early season weekend in Tahoe. Among all holidays Christmas is especially well suited for a family ski vacation.
Martin Luther King Day
July 19th 2009: The Martin Luther King Day holiday is always a great time for a good winter powder storm. It's not guaranteed, but in Tahoe, MLK day is synonymous with Powder Day!
President's Day
Celebrate the great presidents of the United States by skiing moguls, ripping groomers and hucking big air at Heavenly Mountain Resort. By February you've got your skiing or snowboarding groove on in a major way. You know the mountain, you hit the parking garage at Heavenly Village, ride the gondola and shred 20 runs before noon. The Adventure Peak Grill is a great spot for lunch giving you the needed energy for a big afternoon. If you need snacks during the day, you can hit any of 7 dining choices on the California side, or 4 on the Nevada side for food or drinks.
Great Winter Snow
The first few holidays of the year are right in the heart of winter in Tahoe when the snow is never better or more plentiful. Skiers who have a Heavenly or Epic season pass are at the top of their game by then. Deep Tahoe snow stays fresh for weeks after a storm in secret stashes all over Heavenly Mountain Resort, and with a passionate focus skiers search them all out and leave their mark in the steep canyons and stunning glades overlooking Tahoe. Don't waste your next trip on something mundane; take a ski vacation at Lake Tahoe the next time a holiday rolls around.
